Ubiquinol-10 benefits chronic fatigue syndrome
Ubiquinol-10 supplementation improves autonomic nervous function and cognitive function in chronic fatigue syndrome.
Directly studies coenzyme Q10 effects
We embarked on a study to investigate the impact of ubiquinol-10—an active form of coenzyme Q10—on patients suffering from chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS). Our research comprised two parts: an open-label study involving 20 patients and a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial with 43 participants.

In the open-label segment, patients took 150 mg of ubiquinol-10 daily for eight weeks, and both the participants and physicians knew who was receiving the supplement. The results were promising, suggesting improvements in various symptoms of CFS.

Following this, in the randomized trial, participants were assigned to either ubiquinol-10 or a placebo for 12 weeks, with neither the patients nor the doctors aware of who received which treatment. Outcomes showed that those taking ubiquinol-10 experienced significant benefits, reinforcing the notion that this supplement can positively influence CFS symptoms.

Overall, this study suggests that adding ubiquinol-10 to a treatment plan could be a helpful strategy for improving the lives of those dealing with chronic fatigue syndrome.

CoQ10 Shows Heart Function Improvement
Isolated diastolic dysfunction of the myocardium and its response to CoQ10 treatment.
Study emphasizes limited isolated efficacy
We investigated the effects of coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) treatment on patients experiencing chronic fatigue syndrome and related symptoms. In a comprehensive study, 115 patients presented with fatigue, precordial pain, and arrhythmias, which are often precursors to heart failure. Among these individuals, those with chronic fatigue syndrome were evaluated alongside groups with hypertensive cardiovascular disease and mitral valve prolapse syndrome.

We recorded key health metrics, including blood pressure, CoQ10 blood levels, and echocardiographic measurements that assess both diastolic and systolic heart function. The participants were then given CoQ10 supplements, and we conducted follow-up evaluations to measure any changes.

The treatment resulted in promising enhancements across the board—eighty percent of hypertensive patients experienced lowered blood pressure, while all participants showed improved diastolic functioning. Moreover, more than half of the hypertensive group saw a reduction in myocardial thickness. However, while the results were favorable for various heart-related conditions, we noted that the information does not isolate the effects specifically for chronic fatigue syndrome, limiting our understanding of CoQ10’s isolated efficacy for this group.

Overall, the initial trial indicates that CoQ10 could potentially benefit heart function, which may help alleviate some symptoms associated with chronic fatigue syndrome, although more focused studies are needed to draw definitive conclusions for this specific condition.

Coenzyme Q10 reduces chronic fatigue
Coenzyme Q10 + alpha lipoic acid for chronic COVID syndrome.
Combination treatment limits assessment
We examined the impact of coenzyme Q10, combined with alpha lipoic acid, on individuals suffering from chronic COVID syndrome, which features symptoms similar to chronic fatigue syndrome. The study involved 174 patients, who were divided into two groups.

One group received the combined treatment, while the other group did not receive any treatment at all. Our focus was primarily on how well the treatment reduced fatigue, measured using the Fatigue Severity Scale (FSS).

The results were quite striking: a majority of those who received the treatment showed a significant reduction in fatigue compared to those who did not. In fact, over 53% of patients in the treatment group reported a complete response, whereas only a small fraction in the control group achieved similar results.

Overall, our findings indicate a positive effect of coenzyme Q10 and alpha lipoic acid on reducing chronic fatigue symptoms associated with chronic COVID. However, to validate these results further, we believe that a double-blind, placebo-controlled trial would be essential for confirming the effectiveness of this treatment approach.

CoQ10 supplementation aids CFS
Effect of Dietary Coenzyme Q10 Plus NADH Supplementation on Fatigue Perception and Health-Related Quality of Life in Individuals with Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome: A Prospective, Randomized, Double-Blind, Placebo-Controlled Trial.
Mixed results due to NADH inclusion
We conducted a thorough study to explore how coenzyme Q10, combined with NADH, can alleviate symptoms of chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS), also known as myalgic encephalomyelitis (ME/CFS). In a well-structured, 12-week randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial, we enrolled 207 patients suffering from ME/CFS. Participants were split into two groups, with one receiving a daily dose of 200 mg CoQ10 and 20 mg NADH, while the other took a matching placebo.

Throughout the study, we measured key outcomes such as perceived fatigue, sleep quality, and overall health-related quality of life. We observed notable improvements in cognitive fatigue and health-related quality of life among those taking the CoQ10 and NADH supplement. Specifically, at the end of the treatment period, we noted significant reductions in fatigue levels and improvements in sleep efficiency at various checkpoints.

These findings suggest that coenzyme Q10, coupled with NADH, could serve as a promising option for managing ME/CFS symptoms. However, further research is necessary to confirm these benefits and to better understand how these compounds work in the body to alleviate fatigue and enhance overall well-being in those affected by this challenging condition.

CoQ10 shows potential benefit
Effect of coenzyme Q10 plus nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide supplementation on maximum heart rate after exercise testing in chronic fatigue syndrome - A randomized, controlled, double-blind trial.
Combines CoQ10 with NADH
We conducted a thorough evaluation of how coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) combined with nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NADH) affects individuals with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS). A proof-of-concept trial ran for eight weeks with 80 CFS patients, who were randomly assigned to receive either the CoQ10 and NADH supplement or a placebo. This method ensured that our results were reliable, as both patients and researchers were unaware of which group received the supplement or the placebo, making it a double-blind study.

Our primary focus was to measure the effect on age-predicted maximum heart rate (max HR) during exercise tests. Alongside this, we also looked at secondary factors including levels of fatigue, pain, and sleep quality. After the eight-week period, we found that individuals who took the CoQ10 and NADH combination showed a reduction in max HR during the cycle ergometer test. Additionally, they reported improvements in fatigue levels.

These results are promising as they suggest that this combination could be safe and potentially effective for reducing both heart rate responses to exertion and overall fatigue in CFS patients. However, we recognize the need for larger controlled trials to further validate these findings before drawing definitive conclusions.
